Apple HomeView marks a fresh move in the smart home market. The $299 device aims to bring daily tasks, home controls and personal content into one place. But can Apple’s product win users in a market where Amazon and Google already have a head start?
Apple Homeview: A New Way to Run Your Home
As reported by NDTV, Apple has introduced HomeView, which is a smart home product with a seven-inch screen, a speaker, and an upgraded version of the Siri AI assistant. Its goal is to simplify life and integrate more of Apple’s services into home use. This product was unveiled on October 13, 2026, and it represents Apple’s new interest in the development of smart home products.
The company is taking on Amazon’s Echo devices and Google’s Nest range, which have served smart home users for years. HomeView can sit on a table or be mounted on a wall. It comes in four colours: silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray. Users can play music, make FaceTime calls, check calendars and control supported home devices through voice commands or the touch screen.
Siri AI is still the Main Draw
The biggest part of HomeView is its new Siri AI system. Apple says it can handle more natural talks and give answers based on what users need. It can also use personal details from a linked Apple device to make its replies more useful. It uses face and voice recognition to offer a more personal experience. It can recognise up to six people and show each one a separate home screen with their own apps, calendar items and content.
Privacy is another key part of the pitch. Apple says Siri requests can be handled on the device or through its Private Cloud Compute system. It says data processed through this cloud system is not stored or made available to the company. HomeView also supports compatible smart cameras and can show several video feeds at once. With an iCloud+ plan, it can send alerts about people, pets, parcels and vehicles at the door.

Price set by Apple could be a Big Hurdle
HomeView costs $299 in the United States. In India, Apple has listed it at ₹39,900, with pre-orders open and sales due to begin on November 13. That price puts it above many smart displays from rivals. Apple hopes its links with the iPhone and its wider services will help set HomeView apart. Users already in its ecosystem may find it easier to adopt than people who use devices from many different brands.
Yet Amazon and Google have had years to build their smart home platforms. Buyers may not want to pay more unless Apple’s device offers clear benefits. Its value will depend on ease of use, reliable voice control and support for the devices people already own. HomeView has a clear goal: make smart home control feel simple and personal. Apple’s brand may draw attention, yet only daily use will show whether this screen can stand out.
Author’s Opinion
HomeView has a clear path to success if it works well with the iPhone. But the price is high, and buyers have other choices. Apple must prove that its smart screen saves time and makes daily life easier.
