Apple cuts 200+ jobs as it shifts focus toward AI, Siri, and wearables.

Apple is cutting over 200 roles from its Siri and Vision Pro divisions. The move shows a clear change in focus. The tech giant is putting more time and people into AI and new devices.

Apple cuts more than 200 jobs

As reported by Indian Express, Apple is cutting more than 200 jobs across several teams. Around 100 jobs are being removed from the Vision Pro group. Another 100 are being cut from Siri and software teams. The changes also affect the Intelligent Systems Experience team. The team is responsible for developing AI-powered features for Appleโ€™s range of devices. The cuts come as the company changes its plans. Apple wants to focus more on artificial intelligence and new products.

The company is also scaling back its Vision Pro gaming operations significantly. The team that makes immersive video content is being made smaller too. Apple has not said that Vision Pro is ending. The company says the headset and its visionOS software will continue. Still, the job cuts show that the product is not getting the same level of focus as before.

Siri and AI become bigger priorities

Siri is also going through a major change. Apple is working on a new AI-based version of its voice assistant. The job cuts are linked to this wider change in Apple’s AI plans. The new Siri is being built on a different system. That means the company needs different skills and roles. Apple had already shown its new Siri AI at its 2026 developer event. The company said the new version will understand more personal context and work across apps in a more useful way.

The new system is meant to make Siri more helpful. It can work with information on a user’s device and take more actions across apps. Because of this shift, some old roles are being removed. New roles are also being created. Apple said the changes are part of an effort to improve its products. The company also said affected workers can apply for other roles. Apple is also changing its AI software teams as more products gain AI features.

Vision Pro faces a new challenge

The Vision Pro cuts may be the bigger story. The headset was launched in 2024 as a major step into spatial computing. But it has faced a tough market. The device is expensive. It also has a limited user base. This has made some of its content costly to produce. Immersive video was one of its main selling points. Apple has spent heavily on making this content. But the company now plans to make fewer videos itself. It also wants outside companies to create more content.

The gaming team is being cut heavily because the headset has not gained enough interest from gamers. Apple is now looking towards smart glasses. These devices could become a bigger part of their future business ventures. Apple still has not abandoned the Vision Pro or visionOS project. The new headset could still arrive in the future. But the company is now putting more attention on AI and lighter wearable devices.

Authorโ€™s Opinion

Apple’s latest cuts look less like a retreat from technology and more like a change in direction. Siri and AI are clearly becoming bigger priorities. Vision Pro is not dead, but its future now looks more careful and less aggressive.
