SpaceX has landed a huge new AI compute deal worth $1.11B a month. The customer is still unknown. The agreement will start in December and could become a major step in SpaceXโs growing AI business.
SpaceX adds another huge AI deal
As reported by Ad Hoc News, SpaceX has signed a new compute contract worth about $13.3B a year. The deal comes to around $1.11B every month and will begin on December 1, 2026. The customer has not been named. SpaceX has only said that it is a hosting deal. This means the company will provide computing power and data center capacity for another business. The news was shared by SpaceX chief financial officer Bret Johnsen during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference.
The agreement comes at an important time for the company. SpaceX is trying to grow its AI data center business, but some of its sites are facing power and cooling problems. Those issues could make it harder to meet the needs of major customers if work is delayed. The new deal shows that demand for AI computing power remains very strong. It also puts more pressure on SpaceX to keep building its data centers at a fast pace.
A growing list of big customers for SpaceX
This is not SpaceXโs first major AI compute contract. The company has already signed large deals with some of the biggest names in the industry. Anthropic has agreed to pay around $1.25B a month for computing power. Google has a deal worth about $920M a month. Reflection AI is also paying around $150M a month for access to SpaceXโs computing systems.
The latest agreement brings SpaceXโs total annual income from compute contracts to around $41.1B. The company is now aiming to build between 5 and 10 gigawatts of compute capacity by the end of 2027. The scale of these numbers is striking. SpaceX is known around the world for rockets and Starlink. But AI computing is now becoming a much bigger part of its business plan.

The mystery customer adds more interest
The biggest unknown is still the identity of the new customer. SpaceX has not revealed who will use the computing power or what AI work it plans to run. The company is facing a race to fix some of its data center issues while continuing to handle new demand. SpaceX is also working on energy solutions, including plans to make turbine blades for gas turbines that could help bring more power online faster.
The company has also been pushing beyond normal data centers. Its longer-term goal includes putting AI computing systems in orbit. SpaceX has talked about using its rockets and satellites to support that plan in the years ahead. For now, the $1.11B monthly deal is another sign of how fast the AI race is growing. It also shows that SpaceX wants a much bigger role in that race. The unnamed customer may remain a mystery, but the size of the deal is hard to ignore.
Author’s Opinion
SpaceX is moving into AI at a remarkable speed. The new deal is a strong sign of demand, but capacity must keep up. The real test will be whether the company can deliver the promised computing power without letting technical problems slow its growth.
